Career History

With a career spanning over 30 years in the printing industry, or over 100 if you include his great-grandfather’s early beginnings when he established a printing business in Sydney, in 1903 - James has acquired an extensive knowledge of the industry and the people associated with it. With deep family roots in the industry, his passion and motivation, coupled with his interest in promoting the “people” side of the industry, have led to the creation of JDA.

Various management and consulting roles, including:

• Managing Director, W. J. Cryer & Co. Ltd. -- licensee for Avery Labels in Australia; pioneers of self-adhesive labels in Australia.

• Managing Director, Pemara Graphics (N.S.W.) -- a leading label, printing and packaging group.

• Own business, Project Packaging -- established in 1988, providing customised print and packaging solutions through a broad network of pre-press, label, carton and commercial printers. A pioneer in “print management”, as applied to the packaging industry.

• Established JDA Print Recruitment -- in the 1990’s, having worked in a variety of consulting roles for several recruitment organizations, it became obvious how little they knew of the printing industry. JDA was created as a specialist consultancy, specifically serving the needs of the our industry.
